A Finnish player has broken the world record for online slots winnings by taking down a jackpot worth €17.8m this Saturday.
The sum easily surpassed the previous world record that was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as €11.7m.
The lucky winner was playing Net Entertainment’s Mega Fortune progressive jackpot online slot – the same online slot that previously held the record.
The jackpot had been growing for some time and casino insider Anders Sims said everybody associated with the game was delighted the jackpot had finally gone off.
“This win is completely off the charts for these kinds of games,” Sims said.
“The whole gaming world has been holding its breath during this fall and winter, while the jackpot has just kept on growing.”
Per Eriksson, the Chief Executive Officer of Net Entertainment who developed Mega Fortune, said that his company was delighted to once again break the world record for jackpot size in online gaming.
“This is our second world record jackpot in online gaming,” Eriksson said.
“The large liquidity within the slots with progressive jackpots enables the rapid growth of these jackpots, which is great news for the operators.
“We want to congratulate the winner of this record jackpot and hope to turn many more players into millionaires in the future.”
The Finnish man wished to remain anonymous but shared his delight in a brief statement issued early today.
“It was completely unreal, I laughed and cried all at once,” the lucky winner said.
“Everything was so out of this world that I can hardly recall any of it.
“Then I called my girlfriend and told her that a bigger win had just come in and she calmed me down and told me to keep both feet on the ground and just sit tight.”
Amazingly the man was not a regular online slots player.
“I’m really a poker player, but Mega Fortune is now my new favourite,” he said.
This is yet another example of how online slots can make you rich in an instance.
