Leading slot machine developer Konami Gaming has secured the rights to design and manufacture slot machines using the popular Dungeons and Dragons brand.

Board game juggernaut Hasbro, who produced the original Dungeons and Dragons games as well as popular board games Monopoly, Cluedo and Pictionary, announced the completion of the licensing agreement yesterday.

Mark Blecher, senior Vice President of digital media and gaming at Hasbro said his company delighted that Dungeons and Dragons would be taken to yet another platform.

“Dungeons and Dragons is known for delivering entertaining experiences across a variety of platforms, and we are pleased to be partnering with Konami to bring D&D fans yet another expression of the brand through casino gaming,” Blecher said.

Ross O’Hanley, Vice President of domestic game sales at Konami Gaming, said he was confident that Konami would be able to develop a game that would be enjoyed by both Dungeons and Dragons as well as online slots fans.

“We are proud to partner with Hasbro, one of the world’s leading toy and game manufacturers, to bring the Dungeons and Dragons brand to the gaming industry,” O’Hanley said.

“Dungeons and Dragons is an iconic brand known for capturing the imagination of its fans through its seemingly limitless cast of characters, engaging stories and vast worlds.

“We plan to utilize those attributes to create a diverse product line which appeals to a wide variety of slot players.”

Konami Chief Operating Officer Steve Sutherland believes that Konami and Hasbro share a similar vision for the slot machine.

“Konami is very particular about the brands we choose to license,” Sutherland said.

“In Hasbro, we found a collaborative partner with a shared vision of product development.

“Therefore, we are excited about working with Hasbro to create gaming products that leverage the robust nature of Dungeon & Dragons and reflect the Konami brand.”

The slot machine is expected to be released towards the end of 2013.
